The Materials feature in FACTS enables efficient management and organization of materials required for manufacturing processes. This includes functionalities such as grouping materials, defining target speeds, and setting unit conversions to streamline production workflows and enhance operational efficiency.

Key Features of Materials​

  1. Material Groups

    • Organize materials into groups for streamlined management.
    • Set nominal target speeds for groups, which can then be overridden at the material level if needed.

  2. Material Management

    • Create, edit, and delete materials.
    • Define base units of measurement and associate materials with material groups.
    • Provide descriptive information for materials.

  3. Unit of Measurement (UoM) Conversions

    • Configure UoM conversions for materials, allowing seamless translation between units during production operations.

  4. Nominal Target Speed

    • Define nominal speeds at the material, line, or SAP process order levels, with a priority hierarchy to ensure the most relevant speed is applied during production.

  5. Assignment and Unassignment

    • Assign materials to or unassign them from specific material groups to reflect organizational and operational needs.

  6. Filtering and Viewing

    • Filter materials and material groups based on various criteria for better data navigation.
    • View material details, including nominal target speeds, associated groups, and unit conversions.

Procedures​

1. Create a Material Group​

  1. Navigate to the Material Groups section.
  2. Click on the "+" button to create a new group.
  3. Enter details such as the group code, group name, and nominal target speed.
  4. Save the group.

2. Create a Material​

  1. Navigate to the All Materials section.
  2. Click on the "+" button to create a new material.
  3. Fill in details such as the material number, name, base unit of measurement, and description.
  4. Save the material.

3. Assign Material to a Group​

  1. Navigate to the desired material group.
  2. Select materials to be assigned and add them to the group.
  3. Confirm the assignment.

4. Define Nominal Target Speeds​

  1. Set nominal target speeds at the material level or group level as needed.
  2. Specify the measurement units and save the configuration.

5. Configure UoM Conversions​

  1. Navigate to the material's details.
  2. Access the Conversion tab and add UoM conversions by specifying:
    • Source unit
    • Target unit
    • Conversion factor
  3. Save the configuration.
